UO Blogs System Updated

You may have noticed a new look and feel for the UO Blogs interface! Over the weekend, our host company,Edublogs, performed an update to the system.

This update includes the following new features and changes:

  • A new look to the admin bar
  • Flyout menus to keep menu items neat
  • Improved ‘Inactive Widgets’ area to save widgets (This will prevent widgets from getting lost when you change themes)
  • Customize Feature to change the header, background, title, and menus of the current theme while viewing a live update

New Plugins and Themes

We have added the following new plugins:

  • Onswipe: Onswipe allows you to customize the way your blog or site will look from a tablet. Also allows the ability to add your own branding.
  • Password Protect Selected Content: Allows you to password protect selected content within a post or a page while the rest of the content remains public.
  • TinyMCE Ultimate: Beefs up your visual editor with a plethora of advanced options.

We also added a new theme: Atahualpa.

Welcome to UO Blogs! UO Blogs is a web publishing services available to faculty, staff, and students. To get started, you will first need to decide what kind of site or blog you would like to create. Then select either the ‘UO Courses’ or ‘All Other Sites’ button on the homepage for instructions on how to set up your first site or blog.

UO Blogs has many uses including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Set up course pages, lab websites, and professional websites.
  • Add any UO-affiliated or guest editor to your site.
  • Create class portfolios, share project results, and post updates on collaborative research.
